How Can a Wellbeing Advisor Help Me?
Wellbeing Advisors work for Solent Mind in partnership with Coastal Medical Partnership. They will help you make plans to improve your wellbeing. Wellbeing Advisors offer short term support and work in a person-centred way. This means it’s led by you and what matters most to you.
They will start with understanding how you currently feel about your mental wellbeing. Then help you take positive steps towards improving and managing your wellbeing. Wellbeing Advisors are not therapists or counsellors but they can help you to find therapy or support that meets your needs.
What Can I Expect From an Appointment With a Wellbeing Advisor?
Your first session will be a one-hour assessment. This is to understand all the parts of your life that effect your wellbeing. They’ll also complete a risk assessment.
They will then make a plan with you to improve your wellbeing. The plan may include any of the following:
-
A limited number of 1 to 1 sessions working on specific coping skills/emotional regulation techniques
-
Support with navigating or accessing mental health services
-
Signposting or referring to additional support services. For example, Wellbeing Service, Housing, Inclusion, Bereavement Support
-
Emotional support
-
Self-help techniques and resources
Will I Need to See a Wellbeing Advisor on a Regular Basis?
You will be offered a one hour assessment followed by a limited number of half hour follow up sessions. How many sessions and how often will be decided together with your wellbeing advisor in your assessment. This may depend on your goals, needs and what works for you. Sessions can be delivered by:
- Phone
- Online
- Face-to-face

How Do We Use Your Data?
The 'Wellbeing Advisor' role is provided in partnership between Coastal Medical Partnership and Solent Mind. Your Wellbeing Advisor will make notes about your appointments and any communications between your appointments on your confidential GP records. This is to ensure continuity of care and the quality of support. Should your Wellbeing Advisor have any concerns for your safety, they have a duty to immediately raise these concerns. If you have any questions about what we note on your GP record, please ask your Wellbeing Advisor.
