Admin and Reception Team Roles Explained
What Do Receptionists Do?
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the surgery and are your initial contact point for general enquiries.
They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs, Nurses and our other Health Professionals such as Paramedic, Musculo Skeletal (MSK), Social Prescribers, Health and Wellbeing team. They action task requests from our health professionals at the surgery as well as those from external health organisations, such as district nurses and palliative care teams.
What Do Medical Secretaries Do?
Medical Secretaries provide an important link for patients with the surgery and hospitals.
They make clear and concise electronic referrals, type general and urgent letters to health organisations. Liase with hospital secretaries and consultants overseeing patient treatment in secondary care. As well as coroner and funeral directors in the event of death.
What Do Administrators Do?
Administrators provide important services within our surgery for the benefit of our patients and the surgery.
They administer patient registrations, medical records and requests for medical and insurance reports. Organise speciality clinics, medical and non-medical rotas, patient recalls and reviews. Process electronic mail, online forms, requests and data. Deal with financial claims and carry out searches and surgery audits.
