What is An Advanced Nurse Practitioner?

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner is a nurse who has undertaken higher education in clinical practice.

Working alongside the GP's, they can assess a patient with complex clinical issues, make a diagnosis, provide treatment and issue prescriptions.

 

What is a Practice Nurse With Prescribing?

In addition to their duties as a Practice Nurse, they are qualified to issue prescriptions for different ailments. Such as (but not limited to) asthma, diabetes, ear infections, chest infections, tonsillitis, rashes and urine infection.

What is a Practice Nurse?

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses.

They can help with health issues such as contraception, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. They also run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, travel or flu vaccinations and carry out cervical smears.

What is a Health Care Assistant?

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work.

They carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), Vitamin B12 and Flu injections, blood pressure measurement, ECG's and health checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
